Crafty Old Windows: Turning Trash into Treasure
So fixing up an old house has been fun especially when you don't have to live there. Here is one fun way to bring the past alive. This is an old house we are fixing up.
Have you ever looked at those dusty old window frames and thought, "That belongs in the dump, not my living room"? Well, hold on to your hats, my friends, because I'm about to show you how to turn those crafty old windows into something truly unique and fabulous!
Now, let's dive into this creative journey. Begin by taking sandpaper 80-100 grit and gently sand the frame. Remember, we're not aiming for flawlessness - the aim is to achieve that delightful, vintage look. Once you've revived the frame's character, it's time to unleash your artistic flair. If the frame has some old paint and bare wood, you could experiment with acrylic paint and dilute it with water then use a small brush to create a soft, sweeping effect on the wood.
Grab a thick piece of cardboard or a thin piece of wood for your backing . Now, here's where the fun really begins. Dig through your craft supplies and find all those dried flowers, thistles, and cattails you've been hoarding. I like the natural colors but have also Spray-painted them in soft, aged, vintage colors if you're feeling extra crafty.

Next, arrange those dried beauties inside the frame like a true artist. Tuck them in the corners, let them spill out the sides - the more chaotic, the better. And don't forget to add those little cup hooks or eyelets on the side if you are using a cardboard back so you can hang your masterpiece on the wall. You can also add some small old drawer pulls on the frame or rusted unique pieces, on the outside of the frame too!
So decorate away on that piece of wood you cut for the back. You can even wrap that wood with burlap, paint, or even material, depending on the look you want. Take your frame and lay it on top just to see if it fits. If you are using wood for the back, you can use piano wire and eyelets or actual picture-hanging hardware.
Hopefully, you're using a hot glue gun, as it makes it much easier to place the flowers exactly where you want them. So once everything is done, staple, nail, glue, or whatever will hold that back on, and voila! You've created a unique, crafty item for your home or a thoughtful gift for a loved one.

***** This is what the window looked like below before I decided to create something different. This house is very small so someday we will put an extra bathroom on the other side. So I came up with this crazy idea and of course, you couldn't take the window down from the wall, so I measured the back of the window, cut out two wood backs, and worked on those backs.
